Boston Dynamics unveiled a new version of its SpotMini quadruped robot

Boston Dynamics has unveiled a new version of the SpotMini robot. Unlike previous designs, it features a full body that covers all internal components, as well as significantly greater flexibility and agility. The Verge reports this .

Boston Dynamics has been developing unusual robots for several years. Initially, the company experimented with four-legged robots, but has since introduced other configurations, such as bipedal and wheeled ones. One of the most famous developments was the Spot robot, presented in 2015, capable of maintaining balance even after strong lateral impacts. Engineers then demonstrated a smaller version called SpotMini, which is notable for its ability to be equipped with a manipulator for grasping objects.

Now the company has announced a new version of SpotMini with a protective casing and greater maneuverability. While the company has only shown a short video of the robot and is not providing technical details, some of the new robot’s features can be seen in the footage. For example, it has multiple camera units on all sides, with the front of the robot equipped with two units facing in different directions. Also, judging by the video, the new version has much greater mobility and freedom of movement in the legs.
