5 New Technologies That Will Change Our Everyday Lives

1. Flying Cars

Companies like Uber and Hyperloop One are dedicating time and resources to implementing innovative transportation concepts. With flying cars, you’ll no longer have to sit in traffic jams.

Large companies like Uber, Boeing, and Airbus are actively developing airborne technology.

2. Hyperloop

The Hyperloop will operate in a vacuum system. Passengers will ride in large containers that will reach speeds of over 900 km/h – twice as fast as the fastest trains.

So far, the company has built a 500-meter test track above ground in Nevada.

But challenges remain significant. Building a vacuum system over hundreds of kilometers of land could cost billions of dollars to begin with. Other challenges include accessing existing land and regulatory approval.

3. Futuristic Subway Systems

There’s another vision of Elon Musk’s that’s much closer to reality: the Loop, a more localized, subway-like project from The Boring Company.

Subway construction has slowed in the US due to high construction and maintenance costs, but the futuristic Loop concept is moving forward in Los Angeles. The company is nearly finished building its first section of tunnel in the city, which will transport people in their own cars or pedestrian «pods» at speeds of up to 250 km/h.

A high-speed system will allow people to move faster around the city and avoid traffic jams.

4. A Transformer Car

The Toyota e-Palette concept car can transform from a travel vehicle to a mobile store selling goods or a delivery truck. This means the ride that got you up for work in the morning could also deliver your pizza for dinner.

The interior can transform, making it nearly impossible to tell that they are the same vehicle. Meanwhile, the LCD screens on the car’s exterior can display different brands.

5. Self-Driving Cars

Significant advances in computing power and software have made self-driving cars more than just a dream. Computer vision algorithms in cars can now identify objects such as pedestrians, brake lights, or lane markings with great accuracy. Cameras and radars collect vast amounts of data, which the most advanced cars can process to help plan a safe course to their destination.
