Richard Branson invested in Hyperloop One

Richard Branson says he’s working on a train that will transport people across the country in 50 minutes.

He’s invested heavily in Hyperloop One, a company that claims to be able to build a super-fast train that will reach the speed of airlines on the ground. It does this by using magnets, which allow trains to travel incredibly fast in their tracks.

When completed, trains will be able to travel between London and Edinburgh in 50 minutes, the Virgin boss said. Currently, the journey takes about five hours.
Richard Branson has pledged funding to the project, and it will be renamed Virgin Hyperloop One. It’s unclear what involvement he or his team will have, but members of the Hyperloop One team previously worked on Virgin Galactic.

Richard Branson said in a post on the Virgin website that he was «incredibly excited about the Virgin Hyperloop One technology and how it could transform the lives of passengers.»

The technology has been successfully tested and is currently being developed for commercial applications, Branson stated.
