YouTube is testing a «Breaking News» section

Users have noticed a new section on the homepage of the popular video hosting site YouTube featuring videos covering major and breaking events happening around the world.

The feature is currently in beta testing and is available to a limited number of users. It is available to both PC and mobile users.

The news section aggregates news from leading news agencies like the BBC or CNN. It can be found under the regular video recommendations. In recent days, breaking news has focused on the Barcelona attack and the resignation of Donald Trump’s White House adviser.

The algorithm that selects the news has not yet been revealed.
