Tip #11: Don’t overload your face with low-quality makeup

It’s no secret that daily makeup isn’t a good idea in the long run. Most commercially available cosmetics directly contribute to skin deterioration, irritation, acne, and make skin either excessively oily or, conversely, hyper-dry. Skin is the body’s largest organ and has the ability to constantly absorb substances, so make sure you know exactly what’s in your makeup bag before applying products containing formaldehyde or worse. Today, many manufacturers are doing everything possible to rid their products of harmful ingredients. Next time you buy, take a closer look at the ingredients in your favorite products. And when choosing new ones, choose water-based products over oil-based ones, and use mineral powders.

Tip #16: Learn to eat healthy

If you look closely at a carrot, you’ll notice there’s no nutritional information on the skin. It’s just a carrot. And when you eat food that’s packaged, labeled, and loaded with ingredients, the word «simple» flies out the window. Instead of filling your body with preservatives, chemically altered fats, added sodium, and artificial flavors, courtesy of harmful ingredients you sometimes can’t even pronounce, choose foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. Aim to get the majority of your daily calories from fresh fruits and vegetables, minimally processed whole grains, low-fat dairy, nuts, seeds, lean meats, and fish. A body fueled by healthy foods functions better (and longer!) than one that’s just been fed preservatives that take a long time to digest and require a full body system to eliminate.
