The first production Tesla Model 3 will be assembled by Friday

The Tesla Model 3 is a sedan and Tesla Motors’ first mass-market model. The base model will have a range of 346 kilometers (215 miles) and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kilometers per hour) in six seconds. The preliminary price of the vehicle is estimated at $35,000 (approximately two million rubles). The Model 3 was unveiled in the spring of 2016, and in February of this year, pre-production production was announced. At the same time, the company suspended operations at its California plant for a week while production was being retooled.

Like other Tesla Motors models, the new electric car is equipped with an autopilot function and two luggage compartments. The car has a five-seater interior. Annual sales of the vehicle are expected to reach 500,000 units in 2018.

Notably, the Tesla Model 3 is behind its closest competitor, the Chevrolet Bolt EV, in terms of delivery schedule. Both models have comparable range and price ($37,500 for the latter). However, pre-production production of the General Motors electric vehicle began last spring, and production vehicles were delivered to owners in December.
